August 28, 2003

Unknown airman, died 12 June 1942 and buried in Amsterdam. Also buried at Amsterdam, P/O Ronald Barlow of 115 Sqn RAF. He was a former Oxford University Lacrosse team captain. Brasnose College, Oxford provided his obituary as published in the November 1942 issue of The Brazen Nose. Used with their kind permission.

Sgt. Noel Blair was his pilot. They fell on 13 April 1942.

Also added; Sgt Bird and Sgt Church from 114 Sqn who were shot down on what was probably an intruder mission to Schiphol airfield.

August 24, 2003

Sgt. Walter D. Amos of 158 Sqn was added. He was shot down after a raid on Essen on 11 April 1942 and is buried in Amsterdam. Also added Plt Czerwonka of 301 (Polish) squadron. 

Also added the first page of directions. Find your way to Amsterdam's Nieuwe Oosterbegraafplaats.

August 19, 2003

Sgt. Alexander K. Smith of 26 O.T.U RAF(VR) was added. He died on September 14, 1942 on a mission to Bremen and is buried in Amsterdam. Two days later another bomber of this unit went down. Members of that crew are also buried in Amsterdam.

Flight Sergeant Howard E. Johnson was an air gunner on this crew which perished after a mission to Essen. He was an American who had enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force.

Plt. K.A. Podgorski and Por. P.J. Wybraniec of 301 Sqn RAF were added.

November 2, 2002

After a few months of being off-line I have added the remaining crew-members of the B17 'Man-O-War' that are buried in Opijnen. S/Sgt George Richard Krueger, S.Sgt Harold Royce Sparks, T/Sgt Douglas Victor Blackwood , T/Sgt Hermon Daines Poling and 1st Lt Robert Urqhart Duggan

S/Sgt John L. Roth, waist gunner with the 447th Bomb Group and KIA on January 11, 1944 has also been added.

Also added: Strz. Kocur, Strz. Plichta, Strz. Gizdon and  Strz. Szuster. They were with the 1st Polish Armoured Division and were killed early November, 1944 during the fighting in Holland. They rest at the Polish Field of Honour in Oosterhout.

May 5, 2002

Dragon J. Kadela of the 10th Polish Motor Battalion Dragoons and Kapral F. Dloniak of the 1st Polish Highland Battalion were added.

May 3, 2002

Kapral E. Obora, of the 1st Polish Highland Battalion has been added. He was KIA on November 3, 1944 in the Breda area and buried on the Polish Field of Honour in Oosterhout. Also Dragon L. Galuba of the 10th Polish Motor Battalion Dragoons. He was KIA on October 29, 1944.

April 12, 2002

The first people have been added to this site. They are the crewmembers of the B17 'Man-O-War' of the 91st BG that was shot down over the Dutch town of Opijnen and are still buried there today.
