Thomas
Sampson from Canterbury, New Zealand was a pilot
with 466 Squadron RAAF. He lost his life on 14 May 1943 when
he steered his Wellington towards the North Sea after it had
developed engine trouble and the rest of the crew had bailed
out. Thomas lost his life in the North Sea and is now buried
at Den Haag General Cemetery.
Gunner
Alfred Gibbons
from Brixton, London was a batman to an officier with the
181 Field Regiment,
Royal Artillery. He was killed in an accident on 2 November
1944 and is buried at Nederweert War Cemetery. Thanks to Don
Neal of the Guns and Bugles website (History of 181 Field
Regiment and 6th K.S.L.I) and Joe Gibbons.
Updated F/O Frank Cook's
page. He was a Spitfire pilot with 229 squadron. He was
killed on 29 August 1944 and is buried in Lemmer. Thanks to
Bruce Vinicombe for the additional information.

Battalion King's Shropshire Light Infantry. As far as I
know, 48 men of this battalion were killed in Holland and
are now buried here or in Belgium.

Pfc
Arvill Barlow
from Texas was with the 331st Infantry Regiment, 83rd
Infantry Division. He was killed on 15 April 1945 near the
Elbe river during heavy fighting. He is buried at
Margraten Cemetery.

Robert
McCrorie kindly sent me two pictures and the story of his
father, F/L Thomas
McCrorie from Broom, Warwickshire. Thomas was a
pilot with 75 Squadron and was killed on 23 June 1943, when
his Stirling was shot down over the IJsselmeer. He rests at
Molkwerum
Protestant Churchyard.
Pvt Herbert Boies,
from Winthorp, Iowa was with the 102nd Infantry Division. He
was wounded on 1 December in an attack against the town of
Welz and died on 13 December 1944 in Heerlen. He is now
buried at Margraten
American Cemetery.

W/O
Ivan Butler
from Remuera, Auckland, New Zealand was a Spitfire pilot
with 74 Squadron. He was
shot down while strafing a train in Germany on 25 February
1945 and died in an American field hospital the next day. He
is buried at Nederweert War Cemetery.

Corbett of 53 Squadron
Royal Air Force. He was killed on 4 August 1940 on a mission
to attack shipping in the harbour of Emden, Germany. He is
buried in Schoorl General Cemetery.
Cy Grant passes away at age 90
On
13 February 2010, Cy Grant passed away aged 90. Born in 1919
in Demerara, British Guiana, he went to England and joined
103 Squadron as a navigator in World War 2.
On 25 June 1943 he and his crew were shot down over Holland.
Cy managed to jump out of the plane but was later captured.
His pilot, Pilot Officer
Joe Addison, is
buried in Amsterdam.
After the war Cy became an actor, starring
beside Roger Moore in "The Persuaders", amongst others. He
was the first black man to appear regularly on British TV.
His war memoir
A Member of the RAF of Indeterminate Race

On
28 May 1944, 2Lt
William Condon's B17 was shot down and crashed near
Waldau in Germany. 2Lt Condon was a pilot with the
351st Bomb Group. Seven of
the crew of ten died in the crash. 2Lt Condon is buried at
Margraten American
Military Cemetery.

Brady from Chelsea, London. He was a pilot flying
Mustangs with 268 Squadron.
He was killed on a shipping reconnaissance mission off
Walcheren. He is buried at Bergen General Cemetery.
L/Cpl Reginald
Dominic, from the Skwxwu7mesh tribe of British
Columbia, Canada died on 30 July 1945 under unknown
circumstances. He is buried at Nederweert War Cemetery.

Kieswetter's page with information provided by Mr.
Rodney Martin, whose great grandparents adopted Harvey's
father. Harvey was an American flying with 15 Squadron RAF.
He was killed on 16 December 1942 and is buried at Epe.

from Rodley (Leeds), Yorkshire, was an air gunner with

from Canada was an air gunner on the
429 (RCAF) squadron Halifax that crashed on 29 December
1943. see entries of 25 and 29 January. Five of the crew are
buried at Albergen
Roman Catholic Cemetery.

Arthur Innes
from Simcoe, Ontario, Canada was the tail gunner of
Charles Peasland's
Halifax that was shot down on 29 December 1943. He lies
buried at Albergen
Roman Catholic Cemetery.

Harold Ellenburg from Tennessee. He was with the
1056th Engineer Construction and Repair Group. He died of a
non battle related incident on 1 February 1945. He rests at
Margraten.

Charles Peasland
was an observer with 429 (RCAF)
squadron. He and his crew were shot down on 29 December
1943 on a mission to Berlin. Only two survived the attack by
a German night fighter on the return leg of the mission.
Five of the crew are buried at
Albergen Roman Catholic
Cemetery. Many thanks for Pam and Bruce Ramsey for
providing the grave pictures of the crew.
My daughter was born on 25 October and I haven't been able
to spent much, if any, time working on the site. I have
received many emails however, and hope to start adding
regularly again. Thanks to everyone for sticking with me!
Pvt
Louis Holt was from New Boston, Texas. He was with H
Company, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment,
82nd Airborne Division.
Louis was killed on 20 September 1944 during the Waal river
crossing, and is buried at Old Salem Cemetery, New Boston,
Texas. Many thanks to tdemars for providing a picture of his
grave.
