Pilot Officer Joseph Horace Addison was from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. He was married to Irene Addsion.

Pilot Officer Addison was an air gunner with 103 Sqn. On 26 June 1943, 24 crews of 103 squadron were sent on a mission to Gelsenkirchen. Among them was P/O Addison's crew which consisted of:

F/L A H LANGILLE
SGT R L HOLLYWOOD
P/O C E L GRANT
P/O C B REYNOLDS
P/O D TOWERS
SGT G J WALLIS
SGT J H ADDISON

103 Squadron

They took off in Lancaster I W4827 PM-W from Elsham Wolds at 23.19.

The Pathfinders who were to drop the indicators for the following planes, were late and their markers scattered, which caused considerable confusion. The crews dropped their loads on approximate positions. Two crews from 103 Sqn were missing, those of F/O Langille and F/S Egan. P/O Addison's crew crashed near Nieuw Vennep at 03.08, apparently shot down by a German Night fighter, piloted by Oblt. Werner Huseman of NJG1. Sgt Hollywood and P/O Addison were the only ones killed.

Sgt Hollywood is buried in Hoofddorp General Cemetery. Pilot Officer Addison is buried in a collective grave with Sergeant Leonard Bennett. He was an air gunner with 100 Sqn and was lost on the same mission.
