Sgt George Norman Church was from Banksia, New South Wales, Australia. He was born in Cabramatta,  New South Wales on 6 May 1919. He joined the Royal Australian Air Force in Sidney on 19 August 1940,  and was posted to 114 Sqn RAF in Great Britain, flying Blenheim IV light bombers.


Sgt. Church was lost on 28 January 1942, while on an intruder mission to Leeuwarden airfield. The Blenheim was shot down by Flak defenses near Schiphol airfield, Amsterdam where the Blenheim also crashed.


He was 22.

Sgt Church is buried at the Nieuwe Oosterbegraafplaats in Amsterdam Plot 85. Row A. Grave 5.
