Sgt Czerwonka was attached to a Wellington IV crew with the 301 Squadron Royal Air Force (No.1 Group Bomber Command) and was stationed at Hemswell.

On 6 June 1942 Vickers Wellington no. Z1331 was probably shot down over the sea by a fighter while returning from a raid on Essen. The whole crew was lost: F/O Kozak, F/O Plawski, F/O Wybraniec, Sgt Radecki and Plt. (Sgt) K. A. Podgorski.
