Albert Ernest Holder was born in 1914, son of Albert and Thirza Louisa Holder. He was married to Winifred May Holder and lived in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.

He was pilot on a Wellington bomber with 115 Sqn, flying out of Marham, Norfolk.

On 12 April 1942 Sgt Holder and his crew took off in Wellington III X3596/B, at 22.57 for a raid on Essen. They were shot down by a night fighter over The Netherlands around 0100, 13 April, and crashed into the IJsselmeer, off the coast near Urk. The whole crew perished.

Sgt Holder was 27.

Sergeant Holder is buried at the Nieuwe Oosterbegraafplaats in Amsterdam Plot 85. Row D. Grave 12.
