James Nicholas Brady

Not much is known about James Nicholas Brady. He was born ini 1916 and the son of ames Nicholas Brady and Florence Julia Brady. He was married to Edith Alice Brady and was from Chelsea, London.

He was promoted to the rank of Pilot Officer on 5 November 1941.

In March 1942, 268 Squadron started converting to the Mustang and was tasked with (photo)reconnaissance missions.

On 29 July 1942 a number of Mustangs of 268 were tasked with a shipping reconnaissance mission off the Dutch coast near Vlissingen.

 

268 Squadron

268 squadron lost two mustangs, possibly from flak stationed on shipping which the Mustangs had encountered off Walcheren.

P/O Robert Patterson and P/O James Brady were shot down. P/O Brady was shot down about 50 kilometers WNW off Walcheren. His body later washed ashore and was buried at Bergen General Cemetery.

P/O Patterson is still missing and is commemorated at the Runnymede Memorial.
