Dennis Peck

Not much is known about Dennis Peck. He was born in 1925 and was the son of Walter and Georgina Peck, of Lowestoft, Suffolk.

Dennis joined the British Army and became a private with the 1st Battalion, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. The "Ox and Bucks" were part of the 71st Infantry Brigade of the 53 Welsh Division, under command of Lt.-Col. F.H. Howard DSO.

In the days before the 14th of November 1944 the Ox and Bucks were, together with the other units of 53 Welsh Division, preparing to attack across the Wessem canal and the capture Baexem and Horn. The last objective was assigned to the 71st Infantry Brigade.

Pvt Dennis Peck was killed on 12 November 1944, while the division was preparing for the attack. The circumstances of his death are as yet unknown.

Pvt. Dennis Peck is buried at Budel Roman Catholic Cemetery.
