Unkown Soldier

12 November 1944

Culemborg

This unknown soldier was recovered from the Lek river on 12 November 1944. His identity was not established, but it is known he was with the Parachute Regiment. He was most likely one of the airbornes who fought through the battle of Arnhem in September 1944. He most probably drowned or was killed while he was crossing the Rhine river, when the airbornes retreated back to their own lines.
