Arthur Dunham Adair was born on 30 January 1916, son of  James McGillvray and Annie Maria Adair. They lived in Fairlight, Saskatchewan, Canada.

He attended the rural school, Adair S.D. # 1471, which was named after the Adair family. In the summer of 1940, Arthur enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and became an observer with 9 squadron.

He was part of Wing Commander James's crew and was lost on 21 June 1942, on a mission to Emden.

The crew took off in Wellington  X3713 WS-J at 23.46 on 20 June 194242 from their base Honington. They were shot down by a night-fighter piloted by Oblt Egmont Prinz zur Lippe Weissenfeld, of 11./NJG2.


  

   9 Squadron

The Wellington crashed at 0145 near Leenstertillen-Leens, 20 km NorthWest of Groningen, Holland.

All are buried in Leens General Cemetery.
