Sepoy Ramchandra Shellar was from Gowa, Satara, India. He was married to Kalavatibai, of Morgaon, Poona

He was with the 1st Battalion, 5th Mahratta Light Infantry and was a veteran of campaign in North Africa.

He died on 7 May 1945. The circumstances of his death are not known. It is possible he was a POW from the North African or Italian campaign and died while a POW.

He is buried at Nederweert War Cemetery, grave IV. D. 10
