John William Tyreman

John William Tyreman was born on 27 June 1916 and was from Barnaby Grange, near Guisborough.

In November 1934 he matriculated at Leeds University where he studied Agriculture. In the time that he attended Leeds University, he was given a grant by the North Riding of Yorkshire County council (an N.R. Yorkshire Agricultural Exhibition) and was the recipient of the Parkinson Scholarship, a fund for fellowships, scholarships and exhibitions. He graduated in 1938 with a B.Sc. He married Dorothy Vera Tyreman from South Cerney, Gloucestershire.


9 Sqn RAF


John Tyreman joined the Royal Air Force and became a Sergeant pilot with 9 Sqn RAF. On the night of 20 December 1942, Sgt. Tyreman and his crew were to bomb Duisburg, Germany. The exact circumstances of the demise of their bomber is not known.

Sgt. John William Tyreman is buried in Oosterhout Protestant Cemetery, grave 90.
