Józef Hajduk

Józef Hajduk was born on 29 April 1922 in
Nowe Świątczany w. Wilno, Poland.
Not much is known about him.

Józef had found his way to England were he became a spitfire pilot with 302 (City of Poznan) squadron.

On 20 January 1945, Sgt. Józef Hajduk took off with Spitfire Mk 177 from his basis at Grimsbergen, Belgium. He was one of 142 spitfire which were sent out to attack all kinds of transportation the Germans used in Holland.

According German sources he was shot down by anti-aircraft and during a snowstorm. Józef crashed near a house at Beeksestraat 3 at Toldijk.

Sgt Józef Hajduk is buried at Steenderen General Cemetery, Coll. grave 2.
