Dolní Krupá - Uithuizermeeden

Miroslav Jindra was born on 5 March 1916 in Dolní Krupá.

He was part of a Wellington crew with 311 (Czech) Squadron RAF, stationed at East Wretham.

On 17 July 1941, eight  bombers of 311 Squadron attacked the German city of Hamburg. Wellington KX-F (R1371), flown by Sgt. Jindra's crew, was shot down by a nightfighter over the North Sea after having bombed their target. It crashed into the North Sea.

Sgt. Jindra's body washed ashore on 17 September 1941 near Uithuizermeeden in Groningen.

The remains of Sgt Pavel Babacek, Sgt Jan Ctvrtlik and Sgt Vaclav Netik washed ashore on the island of Rottumeroog. However, it is not known where Sgt Babacek and Sgt Ctvrtlik are buried today. They remain listed as missing on the Runnymede memorial. Sgt. Netik's body could not be identified at the time and was buried as Unknown on Rottumeroog. In 1947 he was re-interred at the cemetery of Oldenbroek and in 1955 he was positively identified.

The body of Pilot Officer Jaroslav Partyk was found on the shore of the German island of Borkum, where he was buried. After the war he was re-interred at the military cemetery of Sage, Germany. Only Sgt Vaclav Vales was never found. His body might have washed ashore elsewhere and buried as Unknown. He also is listed at the Runnymede memorial.
