Location: Alkmaar is located in the northeast of The Netherlands, in the province of Noord-Holland.

Alkmaar lies 37 kilometers north-west of Amsterdam, and 32 kilometers north of Haarlem. Take the A9 from Amsterdam (schiphol Airport) via Haarlem to Alkmaar. Just before Alkmaar the A9 hits a roundabout. Take this 3/4, to continue on the A9 (now called N9) to Den Helder. You are now on the roundway around Alkmaar. After a few hundred meters there are traffic lights. Continue straight on the roundway. After about 100 meters there is a right hand exit. Beware! it is difficult to recognize it as such. Take a left and follow the road into a residential area. The cemetery is on your left hand after a few hundred meters. The cemetery is on the south-western outskirts of the town on the Westerweg, and the large white entrance is opposite the junction with Princes Julianalaan. The Commonwealth war graves will be found in a central position within the cemetery - follow the main path then take the second path to the left and the graves will be found 150 meters along here under some trees.
