Hugh Hay

Hugh Hay was born in 1922 and from Gartcosh, Lanarkshire. He was the son of William and Mary McCutcheon Hay.

Hugh joined the Royal Air Force and became an pilot with 418 R.C.A.F. squadron, flying Mosquitos out of Ford, Sussex.

On 25/26 July 1943, F/S Hay and his navigator F/O John Seymour were sent on an Intruder mission with other mossies of 418 Squadron to airfields in The Netherlands. they were flying mosquito HJ822.

What happened after they took off is not known but their

mosquito crashed 3 kilometers North-West from Schiphol airfield at 23.55, killing both men.

Flight Sergeant Hay is buried in Hoofddorp, Row 1. Grave 4.
