Norman Cecil Thirkell

Not much is known about Norman Cecil Thirkell. He was an Ordinary Telegraphist with H.M. Motor Minesweeper 39, Royal Navy.

MMS 39 hit a mine in the Thames Estuary on 7 August 1941, which claimed Norman's life. His body washed ashore on the coast of Texel, where he is buried.

So far only one other casualty is known, Engineman Viggo Jensen.

Norman Cecil Thirkell is buried in Plot K. Row 5. Grave 99.
