History
The 93rd Chemical Mortar Battalion was
activated on 24 March 1944 as the 93rd Chemical Battalion Motorized at
Camp Rucker, Alabama. it was redesignated on 17 November 1944 as 93rd
Chemical Mortar Battalion.
It went overseas in January 1945,
arriving in France on 29 January 1945. It fought in the campaign
for Central Europe. In 22 days of combat it fired 1148 rounds. Two men
were killed in action.
The Battalion departed France on 25
June 1945 aboard the "Bienville" and was inactivated on 20 October 1945
at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
