DUTCH COURAGE

This is the story of
Private van Liere, from his life before the war, his time
when he was conscripted into the Dutch Army before the war
and the German invasion of The Netherlands in May 1940. Van
Liere and his unit fought its way via Zeeland, Belgium and
France to England, where he became part of the Prinses Irene
Brigade. A long time of training and waiting followed.
Finally in August 1944 the Brigade landed in Normandy and
participated in the liberation of France, Belgium and back
into Holland.

as a conscripted soldiers in the defense of the Aflsuitdijk.
For five days the Germans were denied access of this 27
kilometer long dike between Friesland and Noord-Holland.
After the capitulation,
Haijer joined the Dutch resistance.
